About the TIE

Bibliographic

The Bibliographic database is a collection of citations to the literature of telemedicine. A 'citation' is defined as the information needed to locate a particular article, including the title, author, journal title, journal volume and issue number, and pages. It may also include, if available, an abstract describing the article. The TIE does not provide the full text of the cited articles on the site; however, we do include links to any articles available free on the Web in the abstract. Also, many articles are available through the Telemedicine Research Center's Document Delivery Service, or may be available through your local library's interlibrary loan service. They will need all the information contained in the citation, excluding the abstract. The database can be searched or browsed, and is divided into Basic Search features, Advanced Search features, and a Browse feature. Please read the tips for full instructions on searching this database.

Programs

The Programs database can be searched using the 'Browse' function or by using the 'Search' function. The Browse function is the most efficient way to search. The 'Browse By' box will bring up a selection of fields; you can filter by US or non-US, and sort by location or name of program. For instance, a search on 'browse by location', filtering for US, and sorting by location will bring up an alphabetical list by state. To find all Programs doing teledermatology, browse by 'specialty', filter by US or non-US, and sort by location for an alphabetical list of applications.

The main Programs page also provides a link to a survey form for voluntary submission of programs for addition to the database. There is a log-in feature so users can finish the survey at a later date if necessary.

Meetings

This database contains a list of meetings or conferences on telemedicine or other telemedicine-related subjects. There is a drop-down box for a search by conference month and date. The list may also be sorted by conference title, location, and newest listing first. There is also a submission form for those wanting to add a meeting to the list.

Funding

You may search the funding database for individual funding programs by name, or by type of funding source. Programs may be searched by open or closed programs. Each listing provides agency contact information and a link to the Web site. This section also has links to Funding News published in the TIE's What's New, as well as links to other funding resources.

Vendors

Users can search on Vendor listings using the drop-down menus for sorting alphabetically, by region, or by technology type. The vendor listing includes full contact information, link to the Web site, and a company logo. There is also a submission form for vendors not currently listed in the database.

Links

There is a simple search for the links database. It searches the title and description fields for the terms you input.
